Happy Easter!

Okay, so it's been awhile, mostly due to the fact that I forgot my password and was using the wrong email to try and access this account! All sorted now though, most of the recent activity has been more of the behind
the scenes stuff, Brent has been putting in insulation down the walls as he can get to them, he has regibbed our bedroom and that is currently in the process of being painted. I am waiting for the first coat to dry while I
am updating this.
Rachelle has been away at easter camp so that gave nice easy access to her room and allowed Brent to go in and insulate her walls via a hole in the wardrobe and entry through the attic. She should be toasty warm in
there! The girls are quite lucky upstairs as it is quite a few degrees warmer up there and in fact gets very hot in summer, we are still going to put in a skylight at some stage to address not only the releasing of some of
that heat but also to throw a little light up there as they both tend to sit in there rooms with the doors shut leaving the hallway up there in darkness! We will also be trying to sort some system of transferring some of
that heat back downstairs in winter!
More painting on the fence front, almost done right around the house with these now, just the last bit behind the compost and a bit behind the garage to go and they are all done. Brent is working on some flash new
gates which will finish off the boundry stuff, although we have still to sort a wind break of some sort down the side of house, will do that when we hit the decking and paving side of things though.

We have been here just over 9 months and I still get a kick out of walking around and seeing how far we have come in that time, with very little time off work to complete anything it has all just been chipped away at
and alot of it was repairing damaged stuff so it is really nice to start working on the cosmetic side of things.
The garden is coming along and has grown heaps since planting, a couple of the trees appear to be dying off now though and I am not so sure they are meant to, will leave them there and see if they pick up in spring. I
have butchered the grape vine right back and found 2 lovely grapes on it!! Haha, the staunch little thing will most likely grow back next year, if we took some care with it we may just end up with some nice grapes.

That's about it for now, gonna go and put some hot cross buns in the oven. Mum and David are coming over later for a roast pork dinner and hopefully before then I will have got this second coat of paint on. No rest for
the wicked, I don't know why we got excited thinking we had 4 days off work!!!

Happy Easter :)

the bedroom in progress...

I did get that second top coat on yesterday so the bedroom is finished as far as the painting of the walls go, will try and put it back together and get updated photo later, it's nice having that one behind us, still got the window to wrestle with though....yuck.

ok...here it is....the end result.....we finally have a bedroom that doesn't look like some 5th hand patchwork quilt! Really pleased with it, this time of night it's hard to get the colours right but its a very light sandy colour which we got off trade me for $20, that was a full unused  8 litre tin of paint!..BARGAIN!!!!

ummm...please excuse the mess on my dresser, was just too tired to get to that one and the panel heater leaning against the wall is still to be attached!
Hmmmm...what else while I am here, the kitchen, yeah, well that is going to be the last room to do, right up there with the driveway as they will chew through a few $$$ which we just don't have right now...haha. The kitchen has had some paint thrown at it and the benches and oven replaced, those were immediate jobs but again just a stepping stone until we can do it properly.

and a little room waits......lol we haven't done anything to this one other than clutter it up. This is our spare room and anything spare is thrown in there!!!

and now for a sneak preview at the gates, we got the pailings to complet the masterpieces but the wood is wet and needs to be sanded as they are a bit furry and furry gates and not in this year! But here is a preview of that they will look like, will be painted white to tie in with the rest of the boundry stuff.

I think that's about it for now, just one last thing while I remember, a few weeks back we had a fairly severe downpour of rain, it was torrential and lasted quite some time, Mum was here for dinner and as I saw her off at the door into the rain I had no idea what was to follow. As she got to her car parked down the driveway, unbeknown to us the street had flooded and the water was right up to the top of Mums tyres. She had to get into the car through the passanger side, she did send me a text but my phone was flat so I had no idea this drama was playing out!! I would have love to have taken a pic of her little car just about floating! She made it home safely and it wasn't until Hayley got dropped off from a friends house and told us about the flooding down the bottom of our drive!!

this was all we got.......

and with that I think you are pretty much up to date!
